How to clean tile floor?

The majority of us are so engulfed with our day-to-day commitments that performing the simplest of chores becomes a daunting task. As a result, most people end up putting up very good structures but lose out on the quick but very important tasks. One such chore is the cleaning the tile floor. Tile cleaning really needs to be regular because the floor is the place where all spills end up. For instance, kitchen floor tiles receive anything that is used in the kitchen. Flying dust also dirties the floor. A short time spent on cleaning the floor tile will definitely go a long way toward ensuring its durability. To make your job easier it is better to hire a professional cleaning service, but there are certainly some tips and tricks that will help you maintain your floor tile clean longer.

Let’s start with looking at the different variables that may affect you choice of tile. The majority of people chose tiles that are made of  linoleum, ceramic or vinyl simply because they are durable. Cost and personal preference also determine the type of flooring to use. Though cheaper, the use of vinyl flooring appeals to most people because of the ease of installation and cleaning as compared to the ceramic alternative. Using a cleaning service is important since there are professional companies that will take their time to do a good job cleaning those.

After we have determined what type of the tile we are going to use, we need to see what would be the most appropriate way of cleaning. For example, when cleaning a vinyl floor, half-fill a cup with ammonia then mix this with warm water. Using a soft cloth apply this solution on the floor whilst rubbing it in circular motions. Let it settle on the floor for a few minutes then rinse off the solution with clean water.

When cleaning ceramic tiles you will also need borax in addition to ammonia. These tile types are mostly used because there is a greater variety to choose from. In one gallon of water mix a tablespoon of borax and two tablespoons of ammonia. Then apply solution to the floor using a mop with small fibers. Leave to dry for some time and then use a damp rag to dry off excess fluid.

In contrast to the vinyl tiles, it is hard to scratch linoleum tiles. This type of tiles  are normally waxed to provide better protection and it makes cleaning more difficult . If the need for intense cleaning arises, the wax can be stripped off and you will need to apply 50/50 water and vinegar solution.

Obviously, cleaning a floor tile does not consume a lot of time. On the other hand, getting the help of a cleaning service ensures that the floor surface is completely clean.
